To get started you need to open an account and verify yourself. To buy Feathercoins you first need to either transfer some amount of Bitcoins to Bittrex or buy Bitcoins directly using USD (see below how to easily get Bitcoins).

Compared to direct currency exchanges (see above) this way to obtain Feathercoins is far more cheaper (10-20%) but on the other hand is more risky too. You need to have your Bitcoins and obtained feathercoins directly at Bittrex. In case it is hacked, you risk to lose your coins.
In addition you depend on the fluctuation of the Bitcoin price as well.
Its recommended to regularly transfer your coins back into you local wallet to protect it from theft.

One of the first things you are going to learn is that you cannot buy crypto with credit cards. This is because of chargebacks. Credit card payments are reversable whereas payments with Feathercoin and Bitcoin are not.
